The Danny Rumph Classic Basketball Tournament stands as a highlight in Philadelphia's sporting calendar and is the flagship event of the Daniel E. Rumph II Foundation. Dedicated to the memory of Danny, this tournament celebrates his passion for basketball, a love shared by many. Tragically lost to a heart condition in 2005 at The Mallery Recreation Center, now renamed as the Daniel E. Rumph II Recreation Center in his honor, this event has grown from a local Philadelphia initiative to become one of the most eagerly anticipated summer events on the East Coast. About the Rumph Foundation: The Daniel E. Rumph II Foundation envisions a future where the risk of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is significantly reduced through widespread awareness and accessibility of life-saving measures. Our goal is to create safer recreational spaces by equipping them with Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) and promoting heart health education. We're committed to nurturing healthier, safer communities by supporting youth programs and expanding our outreach to include assistance for the homeless and women's shelters.
