Talia Higgins, MFT, LAMFT

Talia Higgins was born and raised in Haddonfield, NJ where she graduated from Haddonfield Memorial High School. She earned her bachelor’s degree in women’s and gender studies, with a concentration in health and sexuality, at Towson University. She then went on to earn her master’s degree in marriage and family therapy, with a concentration in medical family therapy, at Thomas Jefferson University.
In her second year at Thomas Jefferson University, Talia participated in the Child/Adolescent Interprofessional Practice and Education Program, an educational program supported by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Here, she received weekly training from experts in the Philadelphia area on how to better work with children and adolescents. She also participated in several role-play simulations alongside physician assistant and nurse-practitioner students, learning skills to provide collaborative care to clients with unique medical needs.
Talia completed her internship at Council for Relationships where she gained experience working with individuals, couples, and families with presenting problems of complex trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, ADHD, and Autism Spectrum Disorder.
During her internship, she also gained experience in running group therapy. She facilitated an eight-week trauma therapy group series at the Paul L. Dunbar School in Philadelphia, PA as well as a weekly play-based kid’s therapy group at the Rowan Homes location of Project Home in Philadelphia, PA.
Talia uses a systemic approach when working with clients, taking the family system and outside stressors into account. She utilizes narrative, emotionally-focused, and CBT interventions with her clients and as well as Bowenian and structural family therapy in her work with families.
